An opportunity to sponsor this great event

The GOSPORT Half Marathon is a very popular event in the Hampshire Road Race League. The GRR’s club has some 300 members from the local area and together the club members promote this huge running event. The course that is used starts in the area around Browndown and then along entire length of the Lee on the Solent seafront to Hill Head and back. There are 2 laps of this course.

Over 2000 runners are attracted to run this 13.2 mile event from all over the south of England and beyond. Many representing running clubs affiliated to English Athletics.

All ages, of both genders, participate from the age of 17 to those runninginto their very senior years

It is a well-regarded event, and is promoted to the highest possible standards. It attracts many people to our fabulous town of Gosport and Lee on the Solent, many runners and their supporters and is a great day of sport.

It brings the joy of running, the feeling of community and most importantly the sense of very real achievement of completing this significant running distance regardless of the time taken. All runners are important and are given a finishing time. There are club runners, charity runners, fun runners, there are top class athletes and those that run just for fun, everyone testing themselves. It is a fabulous and well organised fun event for everyone. The 2017 event attracted over 2000 applications from runners of all ages but had a maximum field of 2000. On the day, 17th November 2017, 1635 runners travelled from a very wide range of places to run the race. All of the Gosport Half Marathon races held in the last few years would show similar levels of participation. To promote such event takes the voluntary race committee many hours of work through the year. The GRRs have a well-founded and rehearsed model and process for the organisation. The GRRs have over 100 marshals on the course. We are very confident that our 2018 event will be the best yet.

Our successful event is able, because of the very good planning and management to set aside, every year, from the proceeds of the event, some £10,000, which is donated to a number of local charities, suggested by the GRR membership. These charities include GAFIRS, local schools and playgroups, the Scouts, the Rowans Hospice, Radio Haslar and sometimes individuals that are facing difficult times caused by illness or disability.

It is our intention to make our fabulous event even better in 2018 and we are seeking sponsors from the local business community, or beyond, to work in partnership with us. There are number of possible benefits for those that might choose to sponsor this Half Marathon and these could include:

1: Your name and LOGO can be featured of the Gosport Half Marathon website and Facebook pages, with a direct link to your business, which will be seen by 1000s of people during the year leading up to the event and after.
2: It will raise the profile of your business in the Gosport area and make your name known also across a wide area of the country.
3: Your name and LOGO could be prominent on the race T-shirts, goodie bags, medal ribbon, etc.
4: Your business could have a stall and display at the Race HQ (the Bayhouse School Gosport) so that you could interact directly with the participants and supporters of the race.
5: Your business could, perhaps, donate items for the goodie bags that are given to each of the finishing athletes/runners. These items could further promote your business.
6: The support that your business could offer would greatly help and enhance the GRRs ability to support the many local charities and good causes. 7: Your business would be seen by many in the local area and beyond as a supporter of a great community event.
8: There is the opportunity for you present an award named after your business.
9: The 2 water stations, the marshal bibs, the finish area and along the whole course offer opportunities for your business name to be on show.

We believe that this offers a very positive opportunity for your business.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity to become part of the very successful GOSPORT 2018 HALF MARATHON on Sunday 18th November 2018 as a sponsor we would be delighted to discuss this further with you. Please do get in touch with us.
